Just to follow up ....

He was pentecostal converted and was the darling of the charismatic renewal of the 60s but his theological growth eliminated him from their favor...

He is a bishop in a fellowship that is transdenominational with both orthodox and catholic acknowledgment.

He is covenantal... believing the metanarrative of scripture to be covenant, he is sacramental and is therefore a priest administering sacraments.. .he is pentecostal in that he believes and welcomes the gifts of the Spirit... he is amillennial believing in the presence of the kingdom... and he is evangelical offering the free grace of God to all.

He is a father in the faith to me and a mentor ... I love him and admire him ... and I am a nondenominational renewal charismatic...

Ran across your post online. His theology is not mainstream, but it's not unique to him. Check out C. Baxter Kruger...Same theology..different guy. Absolutely 100% biblical, but they view scripture through a different lens than most of western theology.

I guess that I was asking for that. Being a protestant, there is certainly some ground for me to agree.
I kind of muddled the impact of this post by making an issue of the fact that both of the approaches to faith diversity that I was thinking about seemed to be fueled by Catholics.
I think that enforcing secularism and enforcing diversity both seem like kind of strange reactions to the diversity issue.
I wonder what the best way to do diversity really is. I also wonder what people are thinking when they employ these sorts of strategies.

I tell people that abstaining from sexual relations outside of a lifelong committed relationship is the best choice. I try to avoid getting into discussions about all the details. I think that there is still something to be said for privacy/ boundaries/ circumspect deportment when it comes to discussing sexuality.

I think both of these men were insufferably monodextrous. Thus they were angry at their lack of bidextral ability and made up lies about one of every man's favourite secretive past-times.

This is much easier to sing than the original and I would like to be able to play this rather than the original on my guitar.

God creating baseball would only make him responsible in a certain sense for his team letting some runs in. Therefore, when God wins at baseball, he has done nothing silly.

Disagreed. Those who know scripture and Christian theology know that God knew before time that all of what we now experience -- including sin -- would come to pass in eternity. In other words, God was able to see that people would sin before there were people to sin.

This means that the cause of Jesus's first coming was God's own pre-planning and motivation to save people from the sin he knew they'd commit. God was his own cause. The consequence of his foreknowledge and subsequent creation of the cosmos is that people have sinned. Which is what he knew would happen in the first place.

So, by foreknowing our sin and then going ahead an creating us anyway, he has willingly accomplished both the cause and the consequence of our sin. Deo culpa.

In Luke 22:39-46 Jesus sounds quite worried himself to me.
Just think of how many people throughout history must have found a moment of peace/comfort or the courage to do something courageous after reading Matt 6:34.
I think that there must be more to it. He could have been talking to us about the way that we were created to live.

Anxiety has to be part of life. It is part of the continuum of human experience. That, and there is simply no way that anyone can exist in this world without experiencing anxiety, even if that anxiety is so paltry as to be a nonchalant cognitive dissonance.

Given that, it really makes me wonder just how valid was Jesus's injunction to "not worry" (Matt. 6:34)? Were we to not worry, would we really be human? Yes, I consider anxiety and worry to be so closely related that it really isn't reasonable to attempt separating them as different experiences.
