A lot of our knowledge of God comes from people who write books.
Academics research and write books,
They pay their bills because professors and students buy the books,
The professors teach what's in the books to the students,
The students become pastors and teach what's in the books to churches,
The books sit on shelves and are eventually donated to a thrift store,
The thrift store has volunteers rip the cover off the books and put them in separate bins,
The thrift store gets some money for the bin of recycled paper.

A homeless man will sometimes have wealthy parents who don't want to support his drug habit,
They will buy him expensive designer clothes such as those puffy black rapper jackets with the fur that you always see people wearing,
The homeless man will sleep at a homeless shelter and put his bag of clothes in storage,
The police will put him in jail for breaking and entering,
This allows him to sober up as he was close to killing himself with the drugs,
The room now is too full of old bags of peoples stuff that they left there,
It smells bad and there is no room to store new bags for visitors,
Someone will have to spend half the afternoon working to sort out what belongs to people who have left and those who are still there,
The bag containing designer clothes, court documents and identification goes in the dumpster to sleep below many other bags.
At night someone jumps in the dumpster and is infected with bed bugs.
