A lesson on living in an apartment building
I just went out and watered the tomato, pumpkin and two pepper plants on the 6th floor balcony here where I live. The pumpkin just happens to be planted in one of those containers that leeks out the bottom. It's looking the least healthy of any of them, and I decided to give them all an extra good watering tonight, more than usual.
Well, I dump an entire large salad bowl full of water on to my pumpkin plant in the container with the holes in the bottom and I watch a minute later as a lot of the water runs out through the bottom and then starts dripping off the edge of the balcony and making a sound like rain as it hits the many balcony levels below.
It was then that I faintly heard a female voice somewhere below me say in frustration, "ew, what the hell is that" and then the closing of a screen door.
... so this is a lesson to me... I need to find a more considerate way to water my plants... I hope that they think it was from the roof or something
